In June 2011, Dr. Anatoli Freiman was interviewed by the Toronto Sun, as well as several additional newspapers across the country about sun protection and actinic keratoses, the most common precancerous skin lesions.

Did you know that our Toronto dermatologists Dr. Barankin and Dr. Freiman are at the forefront of medicine and involved in clinical research trials for such conditions as psoriasis and acne, and currently they are also involved in a research trial for botulinum toxin (Botox).

In the U.S., new rules for labeling sunscreens will mean that sunscreens labeled “broad spectrum” will have to have at least an SPF of 15 and be shown to protect against both UVA & UVB rays. Sunscreen products that do not meet this standard will have to have a warning that they do not protect against skin cancer.

To protect yourself from the sun this summer, remember to apply your sunblock or sunscreen at least 15 minutes before going outside.
