The Dermaroller is a safe, effective, minimally-invasive cosmetic procedure that involves the use of a micro-needling device.
A new, minimally invasive technique of remodeling skin with little to no downtime is available at Toronto Dermatology Centre (TDC). This Vital Collagen Induction treatment utilizes the FDA approved Medical Dermaroller to create micro-needle punctures into the dermis. By doing so, the skin’s natural defense allows it to create new collagen cells by stimulating growth and healing factors. This results in a quick healing time with generally excellent results.
The Dermaroller is suitable to treat a wide variety of skin concerns such as acne scars, lines, skin laxity, texture and tone, photo damage, and other skin imperfections. The Dermaroller is a great rejuvenation treatment for the face, but is also very effective on the body. It can help reduce the appearance of stretch marks and tighten “mummy tummy.” Since it is not a laser, it can be performed on all skin types safely and effectively, even during the summer time.
There is basically no downtime associated with the procedure and there is minimal discomfort. Treatments can be performed every two months until the desired results are reached, but visible improvement can be seen after even one treatment.
There are very few side effects associated with Dermaroller, but immediately after the treatment redness and occasional pinpoint bleeding may occur. This is usually gone within a day or two, and some dehydration may last few a few days while the old cells shed to reveal new healthy glowing cells. For proper assessment, pre and post protocol and a personal treatment regime, a complimentary consultation done by one of our trained medical estheticians is advisable.
In association with the Dermaroller treatment performed in clinic, there is an at home version that can also be purchased at TDC. The home roller will enhance your treatments, continue to improve your results on an ongoing basis, and it is such a fabulous exfoliation system, that it allows up to 200x better penetration of your home care products. Used regularly, it can thicken up the top layer of your skin by 30%, leaving healthy glowing, tighter skin. It is indicated to help control oil for those who have to deal with acne breakouts and is especially good for women who tend to get hormonal acne. It is cost efficient and easy to use. For about 10 minutes 2-3 times a week, it is one of the best home care additions anyone could consider for optimal enhancement of their skin.
