Improve Skin Texture, Scars, Fine Lines & Overall Skin Rejuvenation
Medical microneedling is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that stimulates the skin’s natural production of collagen and elastin. By creating controlled microchannels in the skin, microneedling activates the body’s natural healing response to improve skin texture, firmness, and overall appearance.
At Toronto Dermatology Centre, our Medical Estheticians perform medical microneedling using the Twist Microneedling Device (formerly known as XCellarisPro Twist), a professional medical-grade system that allows treatment settings to be customized to each patient’s skin concerns and treatment area.
Medical microneedling can be performed with hyaluronic acid or enhanced with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) for patients seeking additional skin rejuvenation and collagen stimulation.

Our Microneedling Technology
We use the Twist Microneedling Device (formerly known as XCellarisPro Twist), a professional medical-grade microneedling system designed to provide precise and controlled treatments.
The device uses sterile, single-use needle cartridges and adjustable treatment depths, allowing our Medical Estheticians to customize treatment for different areas and skin concerns.
Unlike traditional at-home dermarollers, professional medical microneedling provides greater control and precision in a clinical setting.
Medical Microneedling Treatment: Before & After

Medical microneedling can help improve:
- Fine lines and early signs of aging
- Enlarged pores
- Acne scars
- Surgical scars
- Stretch marks
- Uneven skin texture
- Dull or tired-looking skin
- Crepey skin
- Mild loss of skin firmness
As new collagen develops, the skin gradually becomes smoother, firmer, and more refined.
Medical microneedling can be performed on:
- Face
- Neck
- Chest (décolleté)
- Hands
- Areas affected by stretch marks
- Areas affected by surgical scars
Treatment is customized according to the area being treated and your individual skin concerns.
Medical microneedling can be enhanced with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) for patients seeking additional skin rejuvenation.
PRP is prepared from a small sample of your own blood and contains concentrated platelets and growth factors that support the body’s natural healing response. When combined with microneedling, PRP may further support collagen production and improve skin texture and the appearance of scars.
Your Medical Esthetician can discuss whether PRP is appropriate for your treatment goals.
Your skin will be cleansed and prepared before treatment. Your Medical Esthetician will then perform the procedure using the Twist Microneedling Device, adjusting the treatment settings according to your skin and the area being treated.
Most patients find the treatment very tolerable, and topical numbing cream is generally not required.
Treatment typically takes approximately 30–60 minutes, depending on the area being treated.
Recovery
Some redness following treatment is normal and typically lasts 24–48 hours. You may also experience mild dryness or tightness.
- Makeup may typically be applied after 24 hours
- Avoid exercise for the first 24 hours
- Your Medical Esthetician will provide detailed aftercare instructions
Most patients benefit from a series of 3–6 treatments spaced approximately 4–6 weeks apart.
While some improvement may be visible after the first treatment, collagen remodeling occurs gradually, with results continuing to develop over the weeks and months following treatment.
Can microneedling help acne scars?
Yes. Medical microneedling can improve the appearance of acne scars by stimulating collagen production and encouraging smoother skin texture.
What microneedling device do you use?
We use the Twist Microneedling Device (formerly known as XCellarisPro Twist), a professional medical-grade system with adjustable treatment settings and sterile, single-use needle cartridges.
Is microneedling painful?
Most patients find the treatment very tolerable. The sensation is generally described as mild vibration or light scratching, and topical numbing cream is not typically required.
How soon will I see results?
Some patients notice brighter and smoother skin shortly after treatment. Because collagen production takes time, results continue to improve over several weeks and months.
If you are looking to improve acne scars, fine lines, enlarged pores, uneven skin texture, or other signs of skin aging, medical microneedling may be an effective treatment option.
