Bruises are a totally normal part of life. Maybe you regularly get “attacked” by doorframes, desks, or other inanimate (but totally in your way) objects. It’s still understandable if you don’t want to walk around with a massive black and blue mark on your knee reminding you of that time you wiped out on the treadmill.

While you can usually cover up a bruise with makeup or strategic outfits, getting it gone ASAP is really the end goal. But is it even possible to get rid of a bruise faster? Maybe—but there are no guarantees. Click here to find out.

“My wife suggested I get Botox for my worry lines. Do men do that?”

Absolutely. The reason it has taken longer to catch on with men is, in part, biological. We age differently from women. Our skin is thicker and better nourished because we have more blood flow to support facial hair. And shaving acts like an exfoliant, removing dead skin with the stubble. So men rarely get fine wrinkles and largely—we don’t care. Smile lines lend character. But we also get horizontal forehead lines that look like accordion pleats. Frowning, squinting, and generally strong expressions give rise to deep vertical glabellar lines between the eyebrows, called the “elevens.” Men seem far more prone to both types of forehead lines, and they are not a good look.

“As a beauty editor, I’ve had plenty of opportunities to get Botox — but in the past I always turned them down. For starters, I’m in my 20s (well, at least for a few more months) and don’t really have any visible lines on my face. In fact, strangers are pretty shocked when I tell them my age — they usually think I’m still in college! Plus, I’ve seen my fair share of celebrities with frozen faces, which has always made me hesitant about trying any kind of injectable. Oh, and needles freak me the eff out.

But then I met Dr. Michelle Henry, a dermatologist and cosmetic surgeon in New York City. She told me that I could have something docs refer to as “baby Botox.” Basically, this is the teeniest amount of Botox you could have injected into your face to soften lines. She assured me that the end result would be natural — no one would even know I had any work done. OK, I was in.” Read more here.

Image: Judy Cloud has been documenting her skin cancer ordeal on Facebook.

The next time you’re tempted to use a tanning bed or frolic in the sun without protecting your skin, Judy Cloud wants you to remember her face.

The Indianapolis, Indiana, resident is sharing the aftermath of her fourth surgery to remove skin cancer from her body. Cloud has had more than 30 spots taken off in the last 20 years, the result of going to tanning salons and staying out too long in the sun when she was younger, she said.

“It’s frustrating to me when I see people — either teenagers, young adults or even women my age — who continue to tan all year round. I know what they’re doing to themselves,” Cloud, 49, told TODAY. Click here to read the full article.

Sweating is your body’s built-in air conditioning. When your core temperature rises on a sweltering day, before a stressful work presentation, or during a hard-charging gym session, your body releases water on the skin, where it evaporates and cools your entire system. But sweating can also be stinky and uncomfortable, and if you’re one of those guys that sweats buckets, it’s potentially embarrassing too. Luckily there are preventive measures you can take before you get too soppy, as well as in the moment, so you can stop it before you drip all over the weight room, says New York City dermatologist Debra Jaliman, M.D., author of Skin Rules. Click here for eight tips for excessive sweating.

It’s the perfect time to incorporate some small but important changes in how you take care of your body. The best place to start is your face and, specifically, not damaging it every morning. First, do not put that bar of body soap on your mug. Ever.

“Soaps and cleansers today are on opposite sides of the spectrum,” says Dr. Macrene Alexiades, a New York–based dermatologist during a quick facial cleanser 101. “The key ingredient in soap is lye, which is a base and is really going to destroy the acid mantle on your face that protects the skin from microbes, bacteria, and viruses.”

Children whose mothers had a dog while they were pregnant were significantly less likely to develop atopic dermatitis, or eczema, as toddlers, a researcher here found.

At age 2, children with prenatal dog exposure had a significant reduced risk of eczema compared to children whose mothers were not exposed to dogs (OR 0.48, 95% CI 0.30-0.76, P=0.002), reported Gagandeep Cheema, MD, of Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, and colleagues.

But the significance of this effect did not extend into older childhood. The reduced risk of eczema for children with prenatal dog exposure only trended towards persistence of this effect at age 10, but was still non-significant (OR 0.62, 95% CI 0.37-1.05, P=0.077). Click here to learn more.

A new case study describes how Tawny, a young nurse from Kentucky, posted a startling selfie on social media in April 2015, shortly after she had a skin cancer treatment. [She] was a regular user of tanning beds in her youth. She was diagnosed with skin cancer at age 21. By the time she was 27, she’d had basal cell skin cancer five times, and squamous cell skin cancer once. Her selfie was shared 50,000 times on social media in less than a month, and her story received widespread media attention.
