As a national spokesperson for the Acne & Rosacea Society of Canada, Dr. Barankin was asked to discuss the 1st ever Acne Awareness Week (Sept. 14-20), as well as a number of aspects about the causes and treatment of acne.

A recent research study in the Journal of the American Medica Association (JAMA) suggests that the reason people develop rosacea are half environmental (especially sun exposure, and also obesity, alcohol and heart disease), and half genetic.
