On Sept 9, our very own expert dermatologist Dr. Benjamin Barankin was interviewed on the “What She Said” radio program on SiriusXM. As a national spokesperson for the Acne & Rosacea Society of Canada, Dr. Barankin was asked to discuss the 1st ever Acne Awareness Week (Sept. 14-20), as well as a number of aspects about the causes and treatment of acne.

A recent research study in the Journal of the American Medica Association (JAMA) suggests that the reason people develop rosacea are half environmental (especially sun exposure, and also obesity, alcohol and heart disease), and half genetic.

Our dermatologist Dr. Anatoli Freiman’s expertise is featured in the latest Canadian Chronicle of Skin and Allergy, discussing new therapies in dermatology.

As the seasons change, our skin tends to change along with them. The summer brings humidity, and with it, if the skin is being properly looked after, hydration and suppleness. As the fall approaches, we have to take into consideration the cooler temperatures and lack of humidity in the air. There are some things that should remain constant, such as sunscreen application. But, depending on your skin type, additional help may be required to get you through the fall and into a healthy winter skin.
