Dr. Benjamin Barankin is quoted in the Winter 2011/2012 issue of Canadian Health & Lifestyle in “2012 Hot Trends” discussing new eczema treatments, new lasers for laser hair removal and fat reduction, and the benefits of coffeeberry extract.

On Dec. 14, 2011, Dr. Benjamin Barankin was an invited guest speaker to over 100 University of Toronto Family Medicine residents where he spoke on new developments in the treatment of psoriasis, acne, rosacea, eczema, dry skin, as well as cosmetic treatments such as lasers, botox, and fillers (e.g. juvederm, restylane, radiesse).

On Dec. 7, 2011, Dr. Anatoli Freiman and Dr. Benjamin Barankin were invited speakers for a family physician journal club where they educated family physicians about skin cancers, acne, eczema and psoriasis. They also reviewed interesting and challenging cases with the family physicians.

Dr. Anatoli Freiman was the keynote speaker for over 100 family doctors at the 2011 Annual Scientific Assembly of the Ontario College of Family Physicians in Toronto. He presented a comprehensive dermatology review, covering diagnostic features, treatments and new developments in common skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, acne, rosacea, skin infections, and skin cancers.

Dr. Barankin has written on “Respecting difference: dermatology in a diverse society” as well as “Ethics Education for Residents: Growing Pains and Learning Crises”. Dr. Benjamin Barankin was an invited speaker at the 49th Annual Scientific Assembly of the Ontario College of Family Physicians on Nov. 26, 2011 where he spoke on “New Things in Dermatology in 2011” which included new treatments for acne, rosacea, psoriasis, eczema, dry skin and a variety of new cosmetic treatments and products.

A recent study published in the Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology involving over 2200 teens found that adolescents who consumed excess fat, sugar, processed meats and refined carbohydrates (e.g. pastries & cakes) were about 30% more likely to develop acne as compared to those who had healthier diets. Interestingly, only 12% of adolescents surveyed in the study had ever consulted a doctor for their acne.

Dr. Benjamin Barankin’s laser expertise is quoted in the December 2011 issue of Flare Magazine, in an article entitled “Light Show.”
