A number of terrific treatment options for excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) have come out in the last few years. For localized areas, medical-grade antiperspirants such as Hydrosal and Drysol are a good place to start. Your dermatologist can also prescribe a higher strength antiperspirant.
Another great option is the use of Botox for hyperhidrosis or too much sweating which involves placing the medicine under the skin to stop sweating from anywhere between 6-12 months. Botox for excessive sweating has quickly become one of the most effective and safest treatments for people who sweat too much. Much less commonly, surgery can be performed for excess sweating, although this carries a number of risks and so has fallen out of favour in the last few years.
For people who sweat too much from several places on the body, there are a few prescription pills that can be quite helpful which one of our Toronto Dermatology Centre dermatologists can tell you about.
With summer just around the corner, make sure to speak to one of our experienced dermatologists to find out the best treatment options for your particular case of excessive sweating.
