Exciting research and news in melanoma

Alberta and Manitoba melanoma trends suggest a decline in the incidence of melanoma in recent years. The rate of melanoma incidence among Canadians stands at 12 cases in 100,000. As well, the most promising targeted therapy in melanoma is the selective inhibition of B-Raf mutations that are present in 2/3 of melanomas. In the near future, it will be possible to obtain the molecular profile of a tumour within a few days at a reasonable cost.
