Toronto Dermatology Centre is now pleased to offer teledermatology to family physicians across Ontario. This free service allows a referring doctor to quickly send pictures and brief description of your patient’s skin condition to our dermatologists to review. Within 1-2 days, you will receive a dermatology consultation, i.e. diagnosis and treatment plan. A digital camera and internet access is all that’s required. Referring for teledermatology may be OHIP-billable (K738 code) and many Ontario family physicians currently use the service.
The service is run through Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN), a not-for-profit organization funded by the Government of Ontario. It allows timely access to our dermatologists while reducing the cost, inconvenience and stress of travel for your patients. More information available on http://otn.ca/en/programs/teledermatology
To start referring patients via teledermatology, please contact the Toronto Dermatology Centre office manager Michele at (416) 633-0001 #5 or [email protected]. Once you are set-up on OTN, please submit half of your cases to Dr. Anatoli Freiman and half to Dr. Benjamin Barankin. Our response turn-around time is 1-2 days. We will be pleased to assist in the care of your patients via teledermatology.
