How to treat your skin after a long winter?

With spring just around the corner, it is time to start thinking about getting ready to reveal a healthier, dewy complexion. With all the options available today, there is no excuse for us not to look our best. No more hats pulled down to here and scarves wrapped up to there. Today’s face is that of a smooth, even toned skin void of dehydration and dull appearance. Spring is a time for metamorphosis, a time to turn from a pretty caterpillar into a beautiful butterfly.

Let’s start with the obvious. To reveal that gorgeous skin hiding under dry, dull winter skin, it is necessary to exfoliate. There are great home versions such as ZO Skin Health’s Exfoliating Polish with magnesium crystals. Applied once or twice a week for a radiant glow that is gentle enough to be used by all skin types, it really packs a punch leaving skin rosy and smooth. For a deeper exfoliation, an in-clinic treatment such as a SilkPeel microdermabrasion (advanced medical microdermabrasion) or medical-grade chemical peel not only exfoliate but also deposit ingredients back into the skin to help balance and neutralize tone and texture.

While chemical peels tend to be more easily recognized by the public, SilkPeel microdermabrasion has its place in the cosmetic field too. Able to treat an assortment of skin afflictions, the silk peel microdermabrasion is painless, with no downtime, and no peeling post-treatment.

A combination of gentle hydrating cleansers and youth driven serums like Alyria Hydrating Serum or SkinCeuticals Retexturing Activator with hyaluronic acid, followed by the yummy goodness of a lighter hydrating moisturizer leaves skin dewy and fresh. Top it off with a lightweight sunblock and protect with Jane Iredale‘s 100% natural mineral make up for skin that says “I am done with winter!”

Bonus: Dermaroller, both the home version (which is really awesome, by the way) and the clinical version eliminate excessive dead skin cells on the surface of the skin and leave an instant radiant glow unsurpassed by other treatments. Cited as Collagen Induction Therapy, this service creates new collagen, thus balancing oil, water and increasing volume to the skin. It works to reduce pigment, tighten skin and reduce pore size, and allows home care products to penetrate up to 200 times more!

Spread your wings and warm up to beautiful spring skin!
