Experimental tape may offer noninvasive melanoma diagnosis

In a recent research study, a special adhesive tape used to collect cells from suspicious skin lesions allowed accurate identification of localized and invasive melanomas. In the study, researchers used a patented technology to collect samples from suspicious skin lesions and sent them to the manufacturer’s lab for genetic analysis. Researchers are hoping to have this test clinically available in two years.
