Botox may have benefits as an antidepressant?

Interesting new research just presented at the American Academy of Dermatology annual meeting found that Botox, typically used for reducing frown lines, Crow’s feet and other facial wrinkles (among many other indications including Hyperhidrosis/excessive sweating, migraines and more), had a 6 month antidepressant effect (along with a 4 months cosmetic benefit) in the 30 participants that were studied after their treatment with Botox. Certainly more work needs to be done in this area, but this is very promising and hopefully can add to the treatment options for depression which can often be very difficult to treat.
